Music

Posted on Jan 7th, 2007 by Nicole : Human Nicole
Have you ever experienced part of a song that strikes a deep chord within you?  It doesn't even have to be a lyric, it can be a certain pitch or an instrument that just rips your heart right open, inspires you, or gets your heart rate going.

I have to be honest, I listen to my music over and over.  I very rarely turn the radio on because I'm too impatient and I'll spend the entire drive surfing stations and become irritated.  Blue Merle's "Burning in the Sun" will NEVER get old.  I love to jog and sing w/ my MP3 player and hear a song come on that just pumps me up.  It's amazing how a song can make me run faster or exercise harder.  Sometimes it is even a slow song... Some of David Gray's songs and Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" really do it for me.  However there is also a Cars' song that I remember clearly called, "It's All I Can Do" in which the keyboardist stair steps to a certain note. It puts a big squeeze on my heart.  (That just dated me, didn't it?)  It STILL does after all this time.

So lately I've been taken over by Blue October.  They're so powerful and raw with emotion.  Some songs are very tender, and others (most) are just plain rowdy and loaded with anger and pain.   The music that comes from the violinist though is captivating, in addition to other aspects of their music.  I'm engrossed in their music and lyrics.

Music is a beautiful thing.  It can bring people together and evoke such emotion.  I love it!

Wow Do I ever!

Music never fails to deeply effect my mood.

Alan Jackson's “It's Five O'clock Somewhere” reminds me of my dad (that was his life's tag line).

Pachelbel's Canon never fails to make me wistful… and KT Tunstall's “That's What I want” never fails to pick up my mood.

Enya in general… hits every emotion I have…  I think without music life would surely be different… and not in a good way…

Yes!!! Music is my emotions turned inside out.
I can listen to high energy stuff (like Audioslave, Queen of the stonage or good old AC/DC) when I really feel full of life… or, when I'm in a more philosophical state (after some red wine maybe) I can put on some Mozart and really feel that I get deep inside myself.

Music can take you back to a specific BREATH in your life…that's what I truly believe.  I can remember listening to Alive by Pearl Jam at a party in college…I took a minute and looked around the house and everyone was singing it at the top of their lungs, their drinks waving in the air.  I also remember this so well because there was a toilet in the middle of the living room…

Honestly, when I was reading this entry I thought of the same Stevie Ray Vaughn song, so thanks to C4 for linking it…there is something so haunting about that guitar…also January Rain by David Gray is a good one…

So many times, in so many days, wait make that every day, a song pops up in my mind that relates to the mood, the activity, or conversation. Hearing live music or playing it has the same affect with even more intensity. We create music and it creates us.
I remember hearing Azim Ali singing at an outdoor concert with Mickey Harts, Planet Drum. It was like Spirit was singing back….chills up the spine and goose bumps all over.
The Universe is music, we are music. I Love it!
Has anyone ever driven 200 or more miles through thick fog to hear another human sing?

Music is one of the most important parts of my life.  I loooove music.  =)

I have many high tech electronics that have made my life very fun, but the mp3 player is hands down the best invention of the millenium. =)  I love where music itself is going as well.  Such variety out there.
